New games coming out in June 2025

- 1 June, 02:00 PM

As for the beginning of summer, everything is not so bad. Of course, we are not talking about real events here, but about the development of game universes. Gamers are waiting for at least the new Nintendo Switch 2 console and several games for it, including new Mario Kart races. In addition, strategies are coming out in June, such as the second part of Rise of Industry, action games and "survivors". Such as the shooter MindsEye, around which there has already been a fuss, Dune Awakening - not a strategy, but an MMO or the promising fantasy The Alters from 11 bit studios. And, finally, the PC version of Stellar Blade, as a separate category of art.

Rise of Industry 2

Release date: June 3, 2025

Genre: economic strategy

Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X

A sequel to the 2018 economic strategy, where the player will find themselves in the role of an entrepreneur building an industrial empire from scratch.

The game takes us to the United States in the 1980s, an era of frenetic innovation, rapid globalization, and incredible profits. Back then, the American dream seemed achievable. All you had to do was arm yourself with ambition, manufacturing capacity, and the right connections.

In Rise of Industry 2, you can build vast industrial complexes with factories, power plants, farms, and smelters. You'll have to create infrastructure, supply businesses with electricity, import resources, sell products on the global market, and satisfy the demand for everything from computers and televisions to whiskey, candy, batteries, and toys.

Special attention should be paid to social connections: in this world, as in ours, it is important to know the "right" people. Communication with CEOs of other companies opens up new markets, and the support of local authorities will help keep employees satisfied. The player needs to calculate investments in the development of the city, build laboratories, hire managers and search for new technologies - all in order to get closer to the status of the most successful businessman of the decade.

The game also offers a "sandbox" mode where you can determine your own strategy and path to the top.

Mario Kart World

Release date: June 5, 2025

Genre: arcade racing

Platforms: Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on June 5, 2025. At launch, along with the console, players will receive mostly ports of old games for the Nintendo Switch - with improved graphics and higher FPS, as well as a few new projects made by other manufacturers. But from Nintendo's own games at launch, we will see only one - Mario Kart World. And also Nintendo Welcome Tour, about which - a little later.

If you like easy arcade racing and don't mind the cartoony Nintendo style, Mario Kart World is probably for you. The games in the series are always high-quality, so playing them is at least pleasant. And at most, they are capable of captivating and giving a good gaming vacation. We hope that the new version will be at least as good as the previous ones.

The developers promise 24, not 12, rivals on the track and the ability to ride on rails and walls to gain acceleration. As for the modes, there will be five of them at the start. Among them are a grand prix with several tracks, a knockout tour, where the weakest participants are eliminated after each race. There will also be a free mode available, where you can explore the open world alone or with friends.

All this sounds good, but bloggers, journalists, and potential gamers have already criticized Nintendo for its unfriendly pricing policy: Nintendo's fun racing game, like other exclusives later on, will cost $80.

The company itself believes that this price is fully justified. Nintendo representative Bill Trinen explained that Mario Kart World is a very large game with a lot of content. According to him, there is so much in it that it is able to give players incredible experiences and can become the most saturated Mario project of all time. Especially considering that there are secrets promised there - even a lot of them.

Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour

Release date: June 5, 2025

Genre: arcade minigames

Platforms: Nintendo Switch 2

It's a strange thing to play a game with that name, and even stranger to buy it for $10. It's what it sounds like - a collection of minigames showcasing the new console's capabilities. Sony took a similar approach with its Astro's Playroom. But that demo was free for every PlayStation 5 owner.

Nintendo's Bill Trinen says the company has the right to charge for the Welcome Tour because the team tried. Ten bucks isn't a lot of money, they say. There are people who are interested in digging into hardware and software, and for them this thing is a good way to look under the hood. The Welcome Tour isn't designed to help players, but for those who want to know how everything works.

Potential players are not happy with the new prices for Nintendo games and the paid tech demo on top of that. The opinion of the players is also shared by Reggie Fies-Eme, the former boss of Nintendo of America. He recalled that during the Wii era, his team made games that came bundled with the console – for example, the legendary Wii Sports. This was done to attract people who had never played before. And it worked: where the Wii was sold with Wii Sports, it became a mega success, and the game itself became a cult.

Today, Nintendo executives are choosing a different path – they want to charge money for everything, even for demos. We'll find out soon whether this strategy will work.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

Release date: June 5, 2025

Genre: Action RPG with farming mechanics

Platforms: Windows, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2

Guardians of Azuma opens a new chapter for Rune Factory fans, transporting players to a completely different country with a unique rhythm of life. The events unfold after the catastrophe known as the Celestial Collapse. A giant meteorite destroyed the eastern lands of Azuma, scattering debris across the sky and burying other parts underwater. The runes stopped working, the nature gods disappeared, and the land itself turned into ruins.

The player awakens from a dream of two dragons, with no memory of the past. Somewhere deep within, a mysterious voice tells them to embrace the power of the Earth Dancer and save whatever can still be saved.

Now in the new game you need not only to grow crops, but also to cleanse the land of corruption, using the magic of ritual dances, ancient artifacts and unusual weapons such as a bow and a talisman. The player also rebuilds destroyed villages, calls on new inhabitants and returns the gods to restore life to these lands. Gradually, along with the revival of the gods, nature will come to life, bringing new resources.

Visually, the game is inspired by Japanese aesthetics in the design of characters, monsters, festivals, and landscapes. You can choose a male or female hero and build a romantic relationship with any of the candidates. New friends will also join in battle.

Ultimately, Guardians of Azuma offers a familiar fantasy with a new rhythm, in which it's up to the player to see if a dead land can come back to life.

Dune Awakening

Release date: June 10, 2025

Genre: MMO

Platforms: Windows (later – PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X)

Usually, games based on Dune are something strategic: bases, resources, spice, huge worms that devour units. But Dune: Awakening challenged traditions. In terms of genre, here we have an MMO-survival with an open world, where the main thing is not to command armies, but at least to survive yourself. The non-canonicality here is not only genre-specific, but also plot-specific: in Awakening we have a parallel reality, not exactly based on Herbert's books, but the spirit is preserved: spice, Fremen, political games and Arrakis, which also does not forgive weakness or even inattention.

The game hasn't been released yet, but its beta has already been tested by journalists and selected players. First impressions are good: an ambitious project with serious immersion in the world of Dune, details that really work for the atmosphere, and an overall feeling of survival among the sands. Although some of the content, such as faction wars, PvP and political intrigue, is not yet available - it has been left for the open beta test.

The main bet was made on survival. Everything here is based on spices, dust, technology and... water. Water is not just a resource, it is currency, life, the only hope to survive until sunset. It must be collected, evaporated, even extracted from the bodies of enemies. Because without it - no way, death from dehydration. In addition - sunstroke, storms and our favorite worms.

Among the features are the mechanics of free climbing on rocks (like in modern Zelda) and a rather interesting resource extraction system - you have to scan objects, look for structural weaknesses and cut them with a laser.

The world turned out to be large and atmospheric, the combat system - a minimum of tactics, a little timing, rolls, parries and so on in a circle. Leveling is not based on levels, but on what you do and what you create. According to the testers, everything sounds very interesting, but there were complaints about the technical condition of the project. Those who played the beta encountered crashes, fps drops, bugs where characters are stretched into new dimensions, and other delights of raw code. But after that, the developers postponed the release for a month, so, I hope, at the release we will get a completely different quality product.

MindsEye

Release date: June 10, 2025

Genre: shooter

Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X

MindsEye, a shooter developed by former GTA producer Leslie Benzies, is due out on June 10, but there's already a lot of drama surrounding it. Build A Rocket Boy co-founder Mark Gerhard recently said that the negative feedback surrounding the game was 100% sponsored by someone, hinting at competitors (likely Rockstar Games) paying bots to write negative reviews. Gerhard's reputation has been tarnished more than MindsEye's.

But what about the game itself? It takes place in the futuristic metropolis of Redrock, where corporate greed collides with political ambition, and artificial intelligence has merged all devices into an omniscient system. Players will control former soldier Jacob Diaz with a mysterious neuroimplant, the MindsEye. Haunted by fragments of memories of a secret mission that changed his life forever, Jacob must find answers to his questions in a world where everything depends on artificial intelligence.

The game promises a variety of situations – from shootouts and car chases to flights into space. At the disposal of the hero is a companion drone for reconnaissance, penetration into inaccessible places and stunning enemies. The device can be upgraded, in particular by adding the ability to hack enemy robots. In addition to the main plot, additional entertainment and a built-in editor for creating your own missions and tasks are announced, which is a big bet. At least, after all the public scandals surrounding the studio, the game itself will definitely not go unnoticed.

Stellar Blade

Release date: June 11, 2025

Genre: action/RPG, slasher

Platforms: Windows (previously released on PlayStation 5)

The day has come! Well… it’s almost here. In any case, the superhit that last April dispelled gamers’ longing for heroines with the most seductive forms is now available not only to those who own a PlayStation 5. The game of the year according to the version of sad singles, okikomori, and my thirteen-year-old friend (although he didn’t play it), Stellar Blade, is now on PC!

Let me remind you: we are not only in front of an exhibition of female charms, but also a rather active slasher. We play as Eve - a girl with perfect posture and a desire to save the Earth, which has long been dismantled into pixels by aliens called "natives". Eve arrives on a destroyed planet with her squad, but something goes wrong, and as a result she remains alone among the ruins, monsters and indefinite existential pain. Next - acquaintance with survivors, immersion in post-apocalyptic cities and the gradual disclosure of a conspiracy, which, as always, did not do without people.

On Metacritic, the game received an 81 score from critics, which suggests that even if you came for the forms, you'll still be left for the slasher. But the player rating hovers around 9.1. Probably, the love for the beautiful... combat system made itself felt.

The PC version, as befits a port in 2025, supports trendy things: DLSS 4 and FSR 3, unlimited framerate, wide monitor (at least 5:4, at least 32:9 - anything to make it convenient to see the same part of the heroine), a new boss named Mann and 25 costumes for thoughtful choice. Plus, a DLC crossover with Nikke will appear immediately upon release.

But before you dream of a perfect picture, you'll have to look at the system requirements. In short: an SSD is a must, and 16 GB of RAM is not negotiable. To play on high settings in 4K at 60 fps, prepare an RTX 3080 or Radeon RX 7900 XT. If you just want to run around with a saber in FullHD, an old 1060 with 6 gigs is enough.

The PS5 port is not just ctrl+c/ctrl+v. The developers announced support for all DualSense gamepad features, full keyboard and mouse control customization, as well as an unknown level of aesthetic delight in the shadows on the tightened buttocks. And most importantly, no one prevents you from pressing pause and diving into the photo mode, where, in fact, the main magic of this fighting epic happens.

Recall that we already had a review of the PS5 version of Stellar Blade.

The Alters

Release date: June 13, 2025

Genre: survival/roguelike

Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X

The Alters is a game that answers the favorite question of those who like to reflect: "what if...". Only instead of unfounded hopes, we are dealing with a bunch of alternative versions of ourselves who live on a hostile planet with you. And here you are not just reflecting - you are literally creating other selves. After an emergency landing, Jan, the main character, realizes that he will not be able to survive on his own. But instead of building a base with some conventional NPCs, he takes a special substance called Rapidi... and clones himself. But not just clones, but creates himself, who he could have become if he had ever made a different choice.

One Jan could be an engineer, another a cook, a third a paranoid, and a fourth a dreamer with poetic tendencies. Each has their own character, their own skills, and, of course, their own problems. At first, everything seems great: you're no longer alone, there's help. But over time, you realize that here we don't have a team of superheroes at all, but a bunch of "you" with very different temperaments who need to be fed, rested, persuaded, reconciled, and kept from going crazy (or eating each other).

The gameplay of the game is a simulator of survival, management and nervous breakdown. You have to build a mobile base, develop it, obtain resources, explore a poisonous surface, where ultraviolet light is present during the day and radiation at night. Time management is added to all this. All our "alters" have a limited amount of energy. You will have to plan everything: who works when, who sleeps, who goes for materials, and who repairs the generator, because it has decided to die again.

And there are also conflicts between the versions of Jan. Because someone wants to command, someone wants to escape, and someone simply doesn't trust the other "self." And you're no longer Jan the commander, but Jan the family psychologist on the verge of a breakdown.

The developers say that it is simply impossible to complete the game the first time.

Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic

Release date: June 13, 2025

Genre: survival horror

Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, PlayStation VR2

The world of Five Nights at Freddy's is expanding with another chapter, this time subtitled Secret of the Mimic. What began as a modest mobile horror hit for teens has long since grown into a multi-format franchise with its own mythology, a feature film (with a second one coming soon), and recognizable scares.

In the new installment, Fazbear Entertainment sends an employee to an abandoned factory to retrieve a dangerous but valuable prototype – an exoskeleton that can adapt to any costume and mimic any character. The location is Murray's Costume Manor, the workshop where reclusive inventor Edwin Murray once worked. Now we have a labyrinth of darkness, abandoned blueprints and… something that doesn't like uninvited guests.

The player explores an abandoned factory, uses gadgets, solves puzzles and tries to survive. Everything is like in the classic FNaF, only now with full support for PlayStation VR2. The game will be released on PlayStation 5 and Windows on Steam and Epic Games Store).

FBC: Firebreak

Release date: June 17, 2025

Genre: Co-op shooter

Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S

The events of the cooperative shooter FBC: Firebreak unfold in a location familiar to Remedy fans, in the mysterious Oldest House, the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control. Players control three operatives who must stop an otherworldly threat that has gotten out of control. Each mission is dedicated to a separate anomaly that affects space, time and consciousness. For example, among the opponents are living stickers that infect people and turn them into monsters.

Players choose so-called "crisis sets" - sets of abilities, weapons and equipment that determine the style of play and role in the team. The tasks are completed in stages, and at the end of each - a battle with a boss, which personifies a specific anomaly. You will have to shoot carefully: friendly fire is active.

The game encourages experimentation, both in terms of weapons and the use of supernatural abilities. Success often depends on coordinated team actions and the ability to adapt to changing environments.

However, the musical participation of the band Old Gods of Asgard, known for Control and Alan Wake, is not planned for the release version of the game. Whether they will appear later is an open question, as is the case with other familiar Remedy characters.

Lost in Random: The Eternal Die

Release date: June 17, 2025

Genre: roguelike RPG

Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch

Lost in Random: The Eternal Die is a fast-paced roguelite/action game from Thunderful Games and Stormteller Games, a spin-off of the 2021 action/adventure Lost in Random from Zoink. The player will control Queen Alexandra, who has suddenly turned into a girl, and her faithful companion Luck, as they fight monstrous pawns and giant knights using powerful relics and abilities. The die will be rolled constantly, as the world changes, and to survive, you need to adapt quickly and think strategically.

The Eternal Die features a new artifact system that allows players to create hundreds of combinations of artifacts with different buffs, color-matching bonuses, and gameplay modifiers. This ensures a unique experience for each playthrough. Between missions, Queen Alexandra will return to the hub where you can interact with characters, upgrade gear, and unlock new abilities.

The game will be immediately available as a Game Pass subscription.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach

Release date: June 26, 2025

Genre: action/adventure

Platforms: PlayStation 5

Hideo Kojima is back with his beloved courier simulator, only now Sam Bridges will be delivering packages not only across the US, but around the world. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is the same walking with a huge backpack, only now with more transport (yay!), new biomes and an even crazier team of characters.

11 months after the events of the first part, our favorite hermit with the face of Norman Reedus is again forced to save the world, this time helping to connect Mexico and Australia with the chiral network. In the new Drawbridge team, you will find a talking doll, a "dangerously cheerful" girl and other eccentric personalities, with whom, fortunately, you will have to interact much more than with previous colleagues.

Kojima took into account the criticism of the original: now there is an interactive encyclopedia for those who got confused in the plot, a motorcycle is given after a couple of hours of play, and the combat system has become more interesting thanks to new non-lethal weapons. Plus, there is the opportunity to build monorails - the dream of every logistics fan. The graphics, by the way, are just as beautiful, especially the new desert and forest locations with dynamic weather.

System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition

Release date: June 26, 2025

Genre: immersive simulator

Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series X|S, Nintendo Switch

The sci-fi horror System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition is preparing to be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. The remaster was created on the studio's own KEX Engine. The developers promise to significantly improve the technical condition of the game, removing numerous bugs from the original. The list of changes includes support for resolutions up to 4K at 120 frames per second, updated graphics with reworked cutscenes and character and weapon models, as well as wider settings such as viewing angle and post-processing. The cooperative mode has also been improved, adding support for gamepads, achievements, ultra-wide screens and modifications on PC.

The game takes place 42 years after the events of the first game. The player awakens from cryosleep aboard the Von Braun starship, where everything has gone wrong. The ship has been captured, everyone around has been infected, and SHODAN, an artificial intelligence, is interfering with attempts to find out the truth.

System Shock 2 won many awards and influenced the formation of the immersive simulation genre. Those who purchase the remake of the first System Shock on Steam or GOG will receive the Enhanced Edition of the second part for free.
