In this selection - the most interesting premieres of films and TV series that are definitely worth your attention this spring.

Small Things Like These
According to the plot, on Christmas Eve, Bill - a kind-hearted coal merchant and father of five daughters - accidentally learns about the terrible conditions at the local convent, where "fallen women" are held. This discovery awakens painful memories of his own childhood and presents the man with a moral dilemma: remain silent, as everyone in the town does, or risk everything to save the women.
Small Things is a film adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same name by Irish writer Claire Keegan. The book was awarded the Orwell Prize for political literature and nominated for the Booker Prize. It seems that we are waiting for an emotional story, which will probably be another acting triumph for Murphy. The film was directed by Tim Milants, known for the 3rd season of Peaky Blinders.

Mousetrap
Anton finds himself in a combat zone for the first time, in a dugout, the entrance to which is blocked by a direct shell hit. He wakes up with numerous injuries, alone, imprisoned underground in a few square meters, with no way out. The hero uses all available means and resources to get out of the deadly trap.
The main role in the film is played by actor Yuriy Kulinich (Kings of Rap, Bad Roads, Rhinoceros and others). According to the director, screenwriter and producer of the film Sergey Kastornykh, Yuriy did not act during the tests, but "lived" and let the story pass through him. This will be a chamber thriller about a person who found himself in a very difficult situation, but did not give up.
Many people doubt the appropriateness of war films, because they consider their release “premature.” But do not forget that the enemy is making much more projects than we are, distorting reality for the Western viewer. Therefore, Ukraine must create war films in response to show the true reality of the world.

The joint adventure will test all five of them for courage and give them the opportunity to discover the unique skills that make each of them a unique creator... the very skills they need to succeed in the real world.
One of the most popular games in history, bought by 300 million people, and played by even more. Even people who are very far from the gaming industry have heard something about this cubic world, where you have to dig for ores and build various tricks. The film adaptation has been in the works for many years, it was postponed all the time, and it seemed to me that this film would never come out until the first trailer appeared on the network. And it was really powerful, because only the trailer for Shrek 5 and the new Snow White caused more hatred among the people. The visual style, the actors, the way the authors demonstrate game mechanics such as creating items, etc. were massively criticized. Not all the claims were adequate, but really, I still don't understand why Steve is played by Jack Black. The actor himself is good, but Jason Momoa, who is also in the film, is much more reminiscent of a game character. Well, you definitely don't imagine a full-grown, gray-haired man in his 40s when you think of Steve from Minecraft.

Oxygen Station
1980, USSR. Long-time political prisoner Mustafa Dzhemilev is serving his exile in the village of Zyryanka in Soviet Yakutia. Here he works at an oxygen station, filling rusty cylinders with oxygen every day. His daily monotonous work resembles the fate of the mythological Sisyphus.
The premiere of Oxygen Station took place back in 2023 at the Tallinn Film Festival, but the film will only be released in wide release now. Our creators continue to explore the theme of dissidence, and this time we learn more about Mustafa Dzhemilev. People need to know their heroes, so the film will definitely be useful to watch.

The most valuable cargo
"The Most Valuable Cargo" tells the story of the times of World War II. Not far from the tracks, along which the trains of death rush every day, live a lumberjack and his wife. One day, the woman finds a baby in the snow - a little Jewish girl. Despite the objections of her husband, the heroine decides to shelter the child and hide her from the horrors of war. However, deciding to leave the find, the family itself finds itself in danger.
The film received many positive reviews and nominations, including for the Palme d'Or. Its unique style makes this work a real gem for animation lovers and is recommended for viewing.

A few years ago, a very interesting film from the point of view of production, David Leitch's "Thunderbolt" with Brad Pitt in the lead role, was released. The film was remembered for its good action, crazy dynamics and funny characters. The same case when you forget about the plot problems because of the quality of the production. An example of how entertaining action films should be made.
And soon a film will be released that is very similar to "Thunder Train", but it was shot by other people, without Brad Pitt, and the action takes place on an airplane. The parallels begin from the very beginning, when the slightly eccentric main character is sent by the director to carry out, at first glance, a simple mission to arrest a man named "Ghost". Later, it turns out that the plane is full of mercenaries who are hunting this "Ghost" and they all have to be dealt with. There are quite a few parallels so far, but the most interesting aspect is another aspect, will the authors manage to demonstrate a level of production no worse than David Leitch? If so, then we are in for a real treat for fans of the genre.

It is important that Hollywood filmmakers are turning to Ukrainian culture, and if the implementation is at a high level, the film could attract international attention. Our country can tell many stories in the fantasy genre too!

Until Dawn
A year after her sister's mysterious disappearance, Clover and her friends head to a remote valley to find answers. In an abandoned tourist resort, they are stalked by a masked killer. One by one, they die a horrific death... and each time they wake up at the beginning of the same night. The killer changes tactics each time, and the friends realize that their deaths are not endless. The only chance to survive is to hold out until dawn.
A film adaptation of the popular 2015 game Until Down in the interactive horror genre. The essence of this genre is that you watch a “movie” on the game engine, but you can directly influence the development of the plot that is shown to you. Due to this approach, each person gets their own experience from the game, because for someone all the main characters could die, and for someone all survived. It would seem that how will the authors be able to convey this experience if the audience has no way to influence the story in the cinema? The heroes of the film were placed in a “time loop”, so each of their deaths will return everything to the beginning of the plot. Of course, this is not the same as in the game, but it is a rather interesting solution.
Whether it's true or not that the heroes are not in danger will scare you, you'll soon be able to find out for yourself. In addition, Until Down was recently ported to PC, because the project remained a PlayStation exclusive for many years, and I recommend checking it out if you're a horror fan. In addition, interactive cinema is famous for its low entry threshold, so don't worry if you've never played games before.

The new series has already been released and has received positive reviews, with praise for the portrayal of protagonist Dante. Fans will be very excited to see something new in a franchise that has been dormant for a long time without new content.

The plot revolves around Andrew "Coop" Cooper (Gemm), a former hedge fund manager who, after being laid off and divorced, begins stealing from his wealthy neighbors in Westmont to maintain his usual standard of living. However, he quickly discovers that dangerous secrets and intrigues lurk behind the facades of the wealthy homes.

The Narrow Road to the Deep North

By the way, Obelix is now in the title, which he definitely deserves, because before it was always just "Asterix and..."
The trailers look really cool, the animation is no worse than the recent feature films "Land of the Gods" and "The Secret of the Magic Potion", and besides, it's an adaptation of the original comic book by Gossini and Uderzo, so we don't have to worry about the script.

The series is based on the Argentine cult comic book by Hector Osterheld. It is one of the main works of South American science fiction. It has clearly influenced the genre, as the ideas of "Eternaut" are traced in many modern works, such as The Last of Us.
The series is surprising just by its existence, because viewers are used to Latin soap operas and the gloomy post-apocalypse will become something truly unusual and interesting.

Therefore, despite some questionable edits, the series is still objectively good, if not compared to the game directly. The second season will tell the story of the sequel, The Last of Us 2, a game so controversial that disputes arise over it to this day.
