New games coming out in March 2025

- 2 March, 10:00 AM

March is unlikely to become the month of the year for the gaming industry, but it will definitely please with its variety. Players can expect large-scale Japanese adventures in Assassin's Creed Shadows, gloomy post-apocalyptic survival in Atomfall, cooperative fight against mutants in Killing Floor 3, and even calm management of a tea shop in Wanderstop. The release includes both the expected sequels to well-known franchises and fresh experiments with classic genres.

Age of Mythology: Retold + Immortal Pillars DLC

Release date March 4, 2025

Genre real-time strategy

Platforms PlayStation 5 (released on Windows and Xbox Series X|S earlier), DLC – Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S

A remake of a cult real-time strategy game in some circles (of course, not all players agree with this) with a plot based on various myths of the peoples of the world overcomes the boundaries of the Microsoft ecosystem and bursts onto the PlayStation 5.

As a reminder, the original game (without Retold in the title) was released back in 2002, and the remake appeared exclusively on Microsoft platforms in September of last year. The new version has improved graphics and improved mechanics, 50 missions, and multiplayer for 12 players. And for a more detailed introduction, you can read our review.

Along with the PS5 release, the game is getting a massive new expansion called Immortal Pillars, which adds the Chinese pantheon and its mythology to Age of Mythology. Now you can summon a dragon, control the forces of rain and drought, and build walls that would make the Ming Dynasty emperors bite their elbows with envy. And, as always, you can arrange a divine mix and pit a Chinese dragon against a Greek minotaur in an epic battle that no ancient prophecy could have predicted.

Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone

Release date March 6, 2025 ( Early Access)

Genre: Action/RPG

Windows platforms ( Early Access), later – PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

And again adventures in the Exclusion Zone. Already on March 6, 2025, the sequel to the Polish action/ RPG of 2021 Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone produced by The Farm 5 will appear in Early Access on Steam. The full version will later also be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.

The game's protagonist, former soldier Cole Gray, lives in a world where the economy and industry depend on a substance called "Chernobylite." Thanks to it, humanity has achieved colossal successes, but progress has thrown people like Cole to the sidelines of society. To survive and feed his loved ones, Gray takes on a dangerous job - traveling to other dimensions and collecting a rare mineral. In the end, the protagonist finds himself imprisoned in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and meets the mysterious Black Stalker.

Players will explore an open world with a wide range of role-playing options. You can become a powerful swordsman who intimidates everyone, or an eloquent sniper. Problems can be solved not only through conversations and fights - stealth is also allowed. In addition, cooperative online missions are built into the single-player campaign.

An important part of the gameplay of Chernobylite 2 will be managing the base, where you can create valuable items and upgrade weapons. You can give orders to allies to keep an eye on your equipment and supplies. Recall that recently the developers of Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone held a successful Kickstarter campaign and raised twice as much money as they asked for.

Split Fiction

Release date March 6, 2025

Genre: Action/Adventure

Platforms Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S

If you enjoy the experience of two-player co-op adventures like It Takes Two from Hazelight Studios, you might also be interested in the new project from these developers, Split Fiction. The authors promise bold gameplay diversity, jumping between sci-fi and fantasy settings with completely different mechanics on each level.

Split Fiction can only be played by two people. You and a friend will have to play as two writers, Mio and Zoe. They write in very different ways: one creates science fiction, the other immerses readers in fantasy worlds.

The heroines take part in a, let's say, not entirely safe experiment and find themselves locked in their own fantasies. To get out and preserve their memories, the girls must work together, rely on each other, and travel between worlds.

Judging by the trailers, the upcoming game promises to be a kaleidoscope of locations: the heroines will find themselves in space, on the ocean floor, and in the desert. Imagine today you are fighting space pirates, and tomorrow you are fighting off dragons!

It's nice that, like previous Hazelight Studios games, you only need to purchase one copy of Split Fiction to play together. A review of Split Fiction is scheduled to appear on Mezha on March 4, 2025, at 6:00 PM.

Wanderstop

Release date March 11, 2025

Genre simulator, adventure

Platforms Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S

Wanderstop offers a unique take on the cozy simulation genre. The main character, Alta, a former fighting tournament participant, is forced to leave her past behind and start running a tea shop. But unlike typical characters in such games, she doesn't see this as a welcome break or a new beginning - she's uncomfortable in her new role and doesn't know how to deal with it.

One of the game's creators, Davey Rieden (author of The Stanley Parable and The Beginner's Guide), admits that the idea for the project was born from his own burnout. After previous works, he felt that he could no longer engage in narrative in video games, and wanted to create something simple and calm to recover. But it turned out that he could not design a " cozy" game without internal conflict.

Wanderstop thus evolved into a story that combines a comfortable format with depressing themes. The game explores emotional exhaustion, accepting change, and finding one's place in the world, promising to be something deeper than a typical business sim.

Assassin's Creed Shadows

Release date March 20, 2025

Genre: Action/Adventure

Platforms Windows, macOS , PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS

Assassin's Creed Shadows will take players to medieval Japan at the end of the Sengoku period (1579-1580s) - an era of feudal wars and power struggles. It is the fourteenth major part of the series and seems to be one of the most important for Ubisoft - if the game fails, the studio could face a takeover.

The main feature of Shadows is two protagonists with radically different play styles ( this was already the case in Assassin's Creed Syndicate (2015) - ed. note ). Yasuke, a black samurai in the service of Nobunaga's Oda (and this is not a tribute to the story, but a real historical figure, although there is no evidence that Yasuke was a samurai), specializes in open combat. Naoe is a skilled shinobi assassin, the daughter of a ninja master, who prefers hidden attacks.

Despite yet another release delay (it seems that Ubisoft's calendar works according to its own laws), journalists have already managed to try out a working version. The parkour mechanics are generally successful, although Yasuke, wrapped in heavy robes, looks a bit funny when he tries to jump across rooftops.

Killing Floor 3

Release date March 25, 2025

Genre multiplayer shooter

Platforms Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S

The third part of the brutal shooter Killing Floor supports a cooperative mode for teams of up to six people who will have to confront hordes of bloodthirsty mutants. The developers promise to delight players with detailed monster dismemberment and dynamic gameplay with a huge arsenal.

The game takes place 70 years after the ending of Killing Floor 2. The main characters are members of the rebel squad "Twilight", who are waging war against the army of mutants created by the megacorporation Horzine . It seems that in the future, corporations still cannot resist experiments that inevitably get out of control.

Killing Floor 3 will be available on Windows (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series and will support cross-platform play for anyone who likes to destroy mutants in friendly company.

Berserker: Khazan

Release date March 27, 2025

Genre: Action/RPG

Platforms Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S

The ambitious soulslike RPG The First Berserker: Khazan from South Korean studio Neople takes place in the Dungeon Fighter Online universe. The game tells the story of the legendary general Khazan of the Pellos Empire. After a battle with the berserker dragon Hismar, he was unjustly accused of treason and exiled to the snowy mountains, where he miraculously survived. Now the angry warrior seeks to clear his name and take revenge on the real traitors.

In battles, the main character uses all kinds of weapons with unique abilities that can be combined to create your own fighting style. Ahead of the release, the developers have released a new gameplay trailer showcasing spectacular boss battles – they look impressive and promise players a serious challenge.

The First Berserker: Khazan launches on March 27, 2025 , with Deluxe Edition owners getting 72 hours early access.

Atomfall

Release date March 27, 2025

Genre action/adventure, survival

Platforms Windows, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series X|S

Rebellion, best known for its Sniper Elite series of sniper shooters, is preparing to release an action- adventure survival game called Atomfall. The game takes players to an alternate 1960s, where Great Britain is recovering from a massive nuclear disaster at the Windscale nuclear power plant in northern England (this is a real event, but in our world its consequences were much smaller).

The main character suffers from amnesia. Together with him, the player will have to figure out his own past and explore the British outback, which has been living under strict quarantine for five years. Local residents are cut off from the outside world, and the promised "help" has never arrived.

Instead of a traditional quest system, the developers offer to decide for themselves which evidence is important for solving the mystery. The game world is divided into different zones: from a town controlled by the military to wild areas where bandits, cultists and, of course, radioactive mutants operate - what would a post-apocalypse be without them?

Atomfall's gameplay combines exploration, survival, and combat. The creators promise a variety of atmospheric locations: from an abandoned railway junction to a quarry and secret government facilities filled with the aftermath of horrific experiments.

Atomfall will be released simultaneously on all platforms and will immediately appear in the Game Pass catalog - great news for subscribers to Microsoft's service.

KARMA: The Dark World

Release date March 27, 2025

Genre: horror, role-playing game

Platforms Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S

KARMA: The Dark World is a psychological horror game that will be released on March 27 for Windows (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG) and PlayStation 5. The Xbox Series version will be released a little later.

The game takes place in an alternate history of East Germany in 1984, where society is tightly controlled by the Leviathan Corporation. Constant surveillance, social class divisions, and mind-altering drugs keep citizens in subjection. Those who obey are lured with promises of a gateway to Utopia, an ideal place accessible only to the chosen few.

The main character is Daniel McGovern, an employee of the corporation. His task is to use advanced technology to immerse himself in the minds of the accused, investigate crime scenes, interrogate suspects and report back to management. According to the developers, the plot will reveal a dark story full of love, loss and unexpected discoveries.

The technical side of the game looks promising. Thanks to PSSR upscaling technology, the PlayStation 5 Pro version will receive sharper textures, increased draw distance, and improved reflections. All this in 4K at 60 frames per second.

inZOI

Release date March 28, 2025 ( Early Access)

Genre: Life simulator

Platforms Windows ( Early Access), later – PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S

Although inZOI has obvious similarities to The Sims, the development team avoids direct comparisons and positions the project as an alternative, rather than a competitor, to the legendary franchise. Given the long history of The Sims, creating such depth of simulation in a short period of time is extremely difficult, so inZOI is betting on its own approach to the genre.

Although in general it is also about the life of virtual avatars, forming relationships, city building and various activities - from going to an amusement park to visiting a restaurant. Open locations, communication with NPCs, expanded interior customization options and a powerful character editor make the game as flexible as possible for creating a unique gaming experience.

The game is built on Unreal Engine 5, features detailed customization features and AI-powered tools. It also supports custom modifications, opening up a wide range of creative possibilities for players.

Whether inZOI can become a worthy alternative to The Sims remains to be seen. However, Krafton's ambitions look promising, and the proposed possibilities may interest fans of the genre. The game will first launch in Early Access on Steam, and later appear on consoles.

Post Trauma

Release date March 31, 2025

Genre horror, action/adventure, puzzle

Platforms Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S

Post Trauma, a new horror game from Raw Fury and Red Soul Games, will be released on March 31st, although it was originally scheduled for release in October of last year. However, the Spanish developers needed some extra time to finalize the game.

The project offers a modern take on classic survival horror games. The story centers on Roman, a mentally unstable conductor who, after a panic attack, finds himself in a distorted reality. To escape his own horror, he must solve puzzles, find useful tools, and fight or flee from terrifying creatures.

The developers have deliberately moved away from the trendy "walking simulator" format that has flooded the market in recent years. Instead, Post Trauma approaches the classics of the genre, reminiscent of Silent Hill and Resident Evil.
