Disputes “Android vs. iPhone” can still sometimes be found on the Internet. But there are fewer and fewer arguments on both sides, as manufacturers are actively supporting a growing number of different features that have long been considered an advantage for one side of the story. In the fall, such arguments may be reduced by one.

And we are talking about Always-On display for iPhone. In fact, the ability not to turn off the display in standby mode for smartphones is not something new for over 10 years, but the iPhone hasn’t had it yet. According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, starting with iOS 16, the Always-On display function will appear for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max smartphones.

“I’m told iOS 16 builds in future support for an always-on lock screen, something Apple was originally planning for last year’s iPhone 13. This would allow the iPhone to turn down the frame rate significantly on the lock screen and display quickly glanceable information — similar to newer Apple Watches”.

He also added that if such support appears, it will be exclusive to the new Pro models.

A similar feature was expected in the iPhone 13 Pro, when Apple smartphones were finally equipped with new displays with increased frame rate. They can change it depending on the situation from 10 to 120 Hz. Although, for example, the Apple Watch from the 5th generation can reduce this figure to 1 Hz, allowing less battery exhaustion.

Also, the latest insiders about the displays of new iPhone models increasingly mention the change in the type and size of the cutout in the displays, where the infamous “eyebrow” will be replaced by a couple of smaller slots.
