The first details about Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 have been found

This year we should see a new flagship processor from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The first two generations were very good, and it should only get more interesting.

Kuba Wojciechowski, a developer who sometimes finds interesting things in the code of, for example, operating systems, this time tweeted some details about the next flagship chip, citing his own sources.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SM8650 is codenamed Lanai or Pineapple. And the configuration of the cores will change in it. Qualcomm currently uses 1+4+3, and in the next generation it may be 2+3+2+1, namely two A5xx cores, three A7xx cores, two more A7xx cores and one gold+.

There are no details about such a layout yet. Wojciechowski suggests that cache volumes may change in the configuration, and some cores may use higher frequencies. Also, the new cores (Hayes and Hunter) are supposed to “replace the whole current lineup.”

Along with this, the new processors will get rid of 32-bit support, completely switching to 64, which in the background of the latest changes in Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Android 13 will not be a big surprise.

Of course, the new SOC will also have an updated graphics accelerator. It will be Adreno 750 (with the alternative name Adreno Gen 7.9.0). Its current operating frequency is listed at 770 MHz, which may change in the future.

Last year, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 was introduced in November. However, there is information that this time the company may show an update ahead of schedule.
