Meta is developing Instagram in the direction of a messenger and adding new features for messages

Meta is adding new features to Instagram's messaging system to compete with other messengers, Engadget reports.

Users will now be able to share music in both personal messages and group chats. The song must be available in the Instagram audio library and its duration must not exceed 30 seconds.

Messages will also feature a built-in translator that will work with 99 languages. To translate, simply hold down on the message and select the "Translate" function.

Another new feature is the ability to pin messages. You can pin up to three messages in a single chat.

You will also be able to schedule the sending of the message. The maximum scheduling period is 29 days.

Finally, Instagram will introduce a way to invite people to a group chat using a QR code.

All of these new features should be available to iOS and Android users worldwide by now. An update for the web version of the platform is currently in development and is not yet available.
