A new feature is coming to the Chrome browser and the Google app on iOS — Search Screen with Google Lens. It works similarly to Circle to Search and lets you highlight an object on the screen and search for it.
The main difference between this feature and Circle to Search is that it doesn't work system-wide on iOS, but only in Google apps. As the company notes, Apple itself is currently blocking the feature from being fully implemented into the system.
Search Screen with Google Lens will be available to iOS users this week, and a Google Lens button will be added to the address bar in the coming months, making it much easier to access the feature.
Google also announced that Google Lens will be introducing AI-powered insights, similar to Google Search, for queries related to object identification. These insights will help users quickly understand what they're seeing and provide links to "useful resources across the web."
