Sony has announced that the second season of The Last of Us will be released on April 13, 2025, on the Max streaming service and HBO.
As previously stated by series showrunner Craig Mazin, the second season will not cover all the events of The Last of Us Part II. In addition, the season will be shorter than the first, consisting of 7 episodes.
The new season takes place five years after the events of the first season and will introduce new characters, including Caitlin Dever as Abby and Isabella Merced as Dinah, who will play a key role in the second part of the game.
