Alan Wake 2 finally paid off, and Control 2 enters active development phase
Sales of Alan Wake 2 exceeded 2 million copies, and by the end of 2024, the game had fully covered development and marketing costs, allowing Remedy Entertainment to finally make a profit from the sequel. This is stated in the financial report.
Sales of Alan Wake 2 increased in October 2024 after the release of The Lake House DLC, the physical version of the Deluxe Edition, and the PlayStation 5 Pro update. By the end of the fourth quarter, the game reached 2 million copies sold.
In addition to noting the success of Alan Wake 2 in its financial report, Remedy Entertainment also shared updates on other projects. The team working on the cooperative shooter FBC: Firebreak, announced in October 2024, continues to expand, and the game's full development continues.
Remedy also reported that in December, the studio conducted a closed technical test of FBC: Firebreak among internal players. During the testing, they checked the matchmaking system, backend services, and collected data to improve the final version of the game. The project is still scheduled for release in 2025.
The studio also announced that Control 2 is almost ready to enter the active development stage, which is scheduled for the end of February 2025. In addition, the Max Payne 1/2 remake is showing significant progress and is approaching key stages of development.
