The Steam beta client has received a number of improvements to give users more options for updating their games.
Users can now customize the update method individually for each game. Steam will try to balance the readiness of games for launch with the efficient use of network bandwidth. For recently launched games, updates will be downloaded immediately after release, and for those that have not been launched for a long time, the system may postpone the download until later.
This solution can satisfy the majority of users, but more control is also needed. To do this, a new section will appear in the Downloads tab, where players will be able to customize the download behavior for each game individually.
To configure this feature for an individual game, players need to go to its page in the library, select the gear icon, and choose Properties... → Update. The options remain the same, but their descriptions have been made more neat.
To find out which games have their own update options set, open the Downloads tab in the Steam client settings and click Manage Exceptions.
