Amazon has announced several new AI models from the Nova family. They will become a part of the Amazon Bedrock model library as part of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud service.
There are three main models: Nova Micro, Nova Lite, and Nova Pro. Nova Micro will support text only and will have the lowest response latency of all the new models. It will be able to perform tasks such as text summarization, translation, content classification, simple math and coding, and can be used as an interactive chat.
Nova Lite is already a multimodal model that can use images, video, and input to generate texts. In particular, the model will be able to analyze documents and answer visual questions.
The flagship among the new products is the Nova Pro model. It is a multimodal model capable of performing more tasks and doing them better than the Lite model. Nova Pro provides better answers to image-related questions and demonstrates significantly better understanding of video content.
In early 2025, Amazon is also planning to introduce Nova Premier, the most powerful multimodal model that will be able to perform complex tasks that require reasoning.
In addition, Amazon presented several models focused on creativity, including Nova Canvas and Nova Reel. Nova Canvas is an image generation model that allows you to create studio-quality images with fine-tuning of style and content.
At the same time, another new model, Nova Reel, can be used to generate videos through text queries or images.
Besides, Amazon has previously announced its intention to compete with NVIDIA in the AI accelerator market. The company presented new servers for data centers using its own AI chips – Trainium2. Apple has already received these chips, and Anthropic will soon join the list of customers.
