A new patent of the South Korean tech company Samsung indicates that the manufacturer is likely to develop a portable folding game console. It is reported by 91Mobiles.

The patent was registered in early November 2024 with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). It shows some fairly clear images of the device, which is very similar in design to the Nintendo Switch.

The device has a folding design like Galaxy Flip 6. The mockups show that the main buttons are recessed inside the case, and the sticks are hidden in these recesses when folded.

It’s worth noting that Samsung may not be looking to enter the gaming industry on its own, but rather is developing a concept to offer to other companies. Samsung Display has already collaborated with Nintendo to produce screens for the Nintendo Switch OLED.

It is not yet known whether this device will enter the market. According to previous reports, Nintendo has no plans to implement foldable screen technology in its next console. But there are still Xbox and PlayStation that are also planning to release their portable gaming devices.
