Samsung will add support for seamless A/B updates in the upcoming flagship Galaxy S25 series. This technology allows you to install Android updates in the background without taking away user control over the smartphone. This was reported by insider @chunvn8888.
Google has been allowing Android updates without rebooting the smartphone for a long time, but Samsung was in no hurry to implement this technology. Seamless updates are currently supported only by the Galaxy A55 5G.
S25 series support A/B update

With this type of update, the system works in two partitions – A/B. When updating partition A, the system works in B and vice versa. Also, in case of a failed update, the user can immediately download the backup from partition B.
Currently, the Galaxy S24 line uses an older method – a full system and device reboot, which can take up to several minutes. During this time, new software is installed on the smartphone, and when everything is done, the device reboots with the new software. The bigger the update, the longer it will take the smartphone to install it.
