The Ukrainian studio Fang's Lab, which is already working on the hidden alien search game I Want to Believe, has opened a Steam page and presented a trailer for another project - the horror game Metrophobia, which takes place in an abandoned subway, where the station repeats itself in a loop, filled with anomalies and hidden horrors.
"You find yourself trapped in an eerie and seemingly abandoned metro station. There are no people in sight, yet an unsettling feeling of someone—or something—lurking in the shadows never leaves you. Your objective is simple yet daunting: escape the metro. However, every time you step through the exit, you find yourself back at the beginning, caught in a mysterious and never-ending loop.As you explore the dim, unsettling tunnels, anomalies begin to reveal themselves—subtle at first, like objects slightly out of place, but quickly escalating into something more sinister. These anomalies twist your perception of reality, constantly blurring the lines between the mundane and the horrifying. Even though the environment appears lifeless, it reacts to your actions, and each new loop reveals fresh, bizarre distortions of the familiar station," says the game's description on the Steam page.
According to the author, Metrophobia is inspired by classic games inspired by The Exit 8. The player needs to find a way out of the subway, but it will not be easy. The station is repeated over and over again, and only attention to detail will help break this vicious circle.
Metrophobia features more than 100 unique anomalies; two additional modes that open after completing the main story and offer a new perspective on the mysteries of the subway; horror that doesn't rely on screencasts alone, but creates a deeper sense of fear through changing environments and unexpected events; a sense of the constant presence of something eerie.
Metrophobia will have Ukrainian text localization (English voice acting only) and is scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2025. But soon, at the end of October 2024, Metrophobia will have a demo version.
