In an interview with Mezha.Media, the famous developer Peter Todd denied that he was the creator of Bitcoin. The day before, he was named the author of the cryptocurrency in the documentary Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery, which was shown by HBO.
As you know, the concept of Bitcoin was introduced in 2008, when it was published under the pseudonym of Satoshi Nakamoto. However, the real identity of the person or group of people behind the creation of Bitcoin has remained unknown for all these years.
In the new movie directed by Cullen Hoback, it is Peter Todd who is called Satoshi Nakamoto. However, there is no irrefutable evidence of this fact. The developer himself denies such "revelations".
"I am not Satoshi, nor did I create Bitcoin. I certainly tried to create Bitcoin when I was in highschool. But like most people, I failed!"
The developer says he now has mixed feelings. In his opinion, being falsely accused of being a multibillionaire is obviously risky. That's why Peter Todd had to make several unplanned trips to reduce this risk.
At the same time, he also drew attention to the fact that director Cullen Hoback did not even have solid evidence that Satoshi Nakamoto was a billionaire.
"But thiswhole situation is also really funny, and does a good job of ridiculing the
(many) journalists who have tried to find Satoshi.," Peter Todd added.
He also pointed out that he had just returned from Kyiv, where Shaheds flew over his Airbnb and he saw anti-aircraft fire nearby. The developer says that a little "drama around such nonsense" is not a big deal.
However, he believes that Western journalists tend to spend their time on "what's
profitable to write about, rather than what's important."
"For example, Caolan Rob's recent coverage of Russia's attempts to exterminate Khersonas beinginfinitely more important work than Cullen Hoback's," emphasized Peter Todd.
He is convinced that the creators of the documentary are not interested in the truth. At the same time, he considers it unimportant to know who Satoshi Nakamoto really is.
"The most remarkably thing about Bitcoin is thefact that the identity of Satoshi doesn't matter: the whole point is Bitcoin is
a decentralized system not controlled by any one person or group!" said Peter Todd.
