The Juno for YouTube app for watching YouTube videos on the Vision Pro mixed reality headset has been removed from the App Store, the developer reports.

The reason given was that the program “does not adhere to YouTube guidelines and modifies the website in a way they don’t approve of, and alludes to their trademarks and iconography.”

Juno was developed by Christian Selig, who is best known for his Apollo client for Reddit on iOS. He also stopped supporting it last year.

In his blog, Selig wrote that he disagreed with Apple’s decision. According to him, he did not violate any rules, and the program itself only allowed him to watch videos in a form more in line with the style of Vision Pro. He also noted that Juno did not even block ads on the video.

Nevertheless, Selig also wrote that he did not want to continue the fight, as it would take too much time and resources, especially since YouTube does not want to explain anything. As far as he knows, those who have already installed the program will be able to continue using it as long as the site itself does not undergo any changes.

After the release of Vision Pro, companies such as Netflix, YouTube, and Spotify announced that they would not release their own apps for the headset and suggested that users use the services through the browser. Later, Google said that a native YouTube app for Apple’s headset was still in the works, but more than six months have passed and no news has emerged.
