Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced the creation of a global fund to support educational initiatives in the field of AI during his speech at the UN Future Summit, TechCrunch reports.
The Global AI Opportunity Fund will amount to $120 million. With its help, Google intends to make AI education available in communities around the world. The goal will be realized in partnership with local public organizations.
Among other things, Sundar Pichai called artificial intelligence "the most transformative technology". The Google CEO also pointed out the great opportunities he sees for AI and sustainable development.
It is about helping people access information in their own language, accelerating scientific discoveries, warning and tracking climate disasters, and promoting economic progress.
Sundar Pichai also acknowledged that AI poses risks, for example, with deep fakes. However, the Google CEO did not mention the impact of AI on the climate.
