Microsoft launches Windows app for iOS, MacOS and Android
Microsoft is launching the Windows App for macOS, iOS, iPadOS, web browsers, Android devices, and Windows. Windows App is essentially a center for streaming a copy of Windows from various sources, including Windows 365, Azure virtual desktop, remote desktop, etc. This was reported by The Verge.
The application offers a customizable homepage, support for multiple monitors, and USB redirection, which allows you to use devices connected to your home PC, such as webcams, drives, and printers, as if they were connected directly to a remote PC.
The app is only available to Microsoft work and school accounts, as it is primarily intended for existing Windows Remote Desktop clients.
However, there is no indication that the app will be offered to personal accounts. Last year, it became known that Microsoft has a long-term goal of fully moving Windows to the cloud to “enable improved AI-powered services and full roaming of people’s digital experience.”
