When the Mercedes CLA concept car first appeared, it already looked almost ready for actual mass production. Carscoops tells us that this will happen, and soon.
After all, prototypes of the future new Mercedes CLA have already been spotted on the roads in camouflage, and they look very similar to the concept that was once shown: a semicircular roof, a low grille, and star-shaped headlights. The only significant difference is the rear roof pillar, which is made more massive and not so steeply inclined - clearly in anticipation of better space for passengers. We can expect that the interior of the new Mercedes CLA will also resemble the concept.
As for the technical component, we already know about the use of the new MMA platform for the Mercedes CLA - it provides flexibility in designing new models and using the most advanced electrical components. Therefore, the new Mercedes CLA may receive an 800V electric architecture and a very large battery that will provide a range of up to 750 km. The basic version will be a Mercedes CLA with a 175 kW (238 hp) electric motor, but AMG versions with a capacity of about 500 hp are expected in the future.
In the future, we can also expect the usual gasoline and diesel variants of the Mercedes CLA to appear: these are probably echoes of current trends in the loss of customer interest in electric vehicles. Nevertheless, the new Mercedes CLA will make its debut as an electric vehicle, which is expected to happen in 2025.
