Control and Alan Wake games to be made into a TV series and movie

Finnish game studio Remedy Entertainment and Annapurna have agreed to cooperate. The game publisher will finance the development of Control 2 and produce film adaptations of Control and Alan Wake game series. This was reported by Remedy itself.

Remedy will continue to publish Control 2 independently. As part of the deal, Annapurna will work with the studio as a co-production and co-financing partner.

"We're super excited to get Annapurna on board! Annapurna's creative values align perfectly with ours, making them an inspiring partner for the journey ahead. We at Remedy have been working on Control 2 for a while already, it's looking amazing, and we feel Annapurna is the perfect partner to work with," the studio writes.

Annapurna is no stranger to film production. The company was established in 2011 specifically as a media company producing films, TV series and theater productions. Among the films produced by the company are Her, Zero Dark Thirty, Lawless and dozens of others.

The gaming division was opened 5 years later and became known as an "indie publisher", finding and financing ambitious indie projects, but not interfering in the development process.

But it is quite possible that Remedy's deal with Annapurna is a continuation of the studio's cooperation with Epic Games after the release of Alan Wake II exclusively on the Epic Games Store. The deal was announced a week after it became known that former Epic Games CEO Hector Sanchez had joined Annapurna as president of interactive and new media.
