AMD says Windows 11 update will improve Zen 5 performance
Earlier this month, AMD unveiled its new Zen 5 generation processors, but benchmarks showed that the performance gains were less than expected. However, this may soon change, as AMD has said that the next major Windows 11 update will fix the situation.
In an official statement, the company says that while the new generation "Zen 5 delivers leadership in content creation, performance, and AI applications," it has also heard feedback from the community about the desire for better performance in games.
Despite these claims, the Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 9 9950X, as well as the Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X, showed a slight increase in performance for the new generation. However, AMD says that with the release of the next major Windows 11 update, version 24H2, which is due out next month, performance will increase.
As an example, the company compares the performance of different games using the Ryzen 9 9950X processor on Windows 11 versions 23H2 and 24H2. In the case of Far Cry 6, the FPS increase is 13%, Cyberpunk 2077 - 7%, but the results of the Cinebench 2024 single-core test remain unchanged.
In addition, AMD says that while Zen 5 processors will see the biggest boost, the upcoming update will also improve the performance of previous generations of processors, including Zen 4 and Zen 3. The company adds that it is working with Microsoft on this update.
