JFF Theater online cinema will show Japanese movies and anime for free
The Japan Foundation, a Japanese public charity, has launched the JFF Theater website for movies and anime. It aims to popularize Japanese culture. This was reported by the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine.
Currently, the site offers 4 movies and 1 anime:
- SUMODO ~The Successors of Samurai~. A 2020 documentary about sumo. The movie explores the everyday life and Shinto rituals of sumo wrestlers.
- Happy Flight. A 2008 comedy about flight attendants and pilots. One of the main roles is played by Haruka Ayase, one of the most famous actresses in Japan.
- It's a Summer Movie! 2021 is about Hadashi, a schoolgirl who is in love with samurai movies and dreams of making her own samurai movie. But the film club rejects her project, so she decides to gather her friends and make the movie herself.
Tora-san in Goto. A documentary about a large family that makes a living making udon noodles. Filming began in 1993 and lasted 22 years.
The Time of EVE anime tells the story of a Japanese schoolboy named Rikuo, who lives in a time when almost everyone has their own android. The protagonist treats his android as a household appliance, but at some point he begins to notice something very similar to a soul.
These paintings will be available for viewing until September 30, 2024. In the future, new ones will probably appear to replace them. All movies have English subtitles and the original Japanese soundtrack. Registration is required for viewing.
