Tesla is postponing until October 2024 the presentation of the robotaxi service, which was planned to be held in August. This was reported by people familiar with the company's decision, Bloomberg writes.
According to them, the automaker is doing this to give the teams working on the project more time to create additional prototypes.
Informed sources said that the decision was communicated internally. One of the interlocutors said that the design team was told to refine certain elements of the car.
As you know, in April, Elon Musk announced on his X social media page that Tesla was going to introduce a robotaxi service on August 8.
For years, the billionaire has been talking about the concept of a robot taxi, hinting at a future in which Tesla owners could lend their electric cars to a shared fleet and earn money while their cars operate autonomously and carry other passengers.
The information that Tesla was postponing the presentation of the Robotaxi contributed to the growth of competitors' shares. For example, shares of Uber Technologies Inc. jumped 6.1% on Thursday, July 11.
