Avowed, a new role-playing game from Obsidian, is coming this fall

During yesterday’s Microsoft Developer Direct presentation, developer Obsidian Entertainment (Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds) finally shared some detailed information about its new project, a first-person role-playing game Avowed set in the same universe as Pillars of Eternity.

During the 7-minute presentation of the game, the developer spoke about the features of the combat mechanics. It is also based on the first-person view, and the player will be able to switch between melee weapons, magic, and small arms organically, which will give him the opportunity to build his own style of play.

Also, using the example of a side quest, the developer demonstrated Obsidian’s typical approach with options for its solution without a clear division into “good” and “bad” actions, and the art director told how his team creates Avowed’s unique visual style.

The exact release date has not been announced yet, the developer only promised to release the game this fall: Avowed will be available on PC and Xbox Series X|S and will be available on Game Pass on the day of release.
