The new Volkswagen Magotan is a Chinese version of the Passat sedan (if it existed)

As you know, Volkswagen has decided to abandon the sedan body for the new generation of the Volkswagen Passat, leaving only the station wagon on the European market. However, Carscoops tells us that a Passat sedan does exist, but it is offered on the Chinese market and is called Volkswagen Magotan. The car with this name has been produced at Volkswagen’s Chinese plants for a dozen years and has always been nothing more than a local version of the Passat.

And now the new Volkswagen Magotan is preparing to start production and sales, so the first images of the sedan undergoing certification have appeared online.

It is worth noting a rather bold design with a pointed hood and elongated headlights emphasized by a horizontal line: this way, the Volkswagen Magotan sedan resembles not even a Passat wagon, but the new Volkswagen Touareg. Besides, pay attention to the classic silhouette with an additional window behind the door, a continuous lantern line on the trunk lid, different wheel rims and even a dark matte paint option.

The new Volkswagen Magotan sedan is expected to be offered with a 2-liter 220-horsepower turbo petrol engine. The appearance of other options, including hybrids, is in doubt. However, more information about the new Volkswagen Magotan may appear closer to the official launch of the car, which will take place in late 2024 or early 2025.

And now an important question: if you remove the Chinese pedigree, would you like to see a Volkswagen Magotan (or almost a Volkswagen Passat sedan) like this in Ukraine?
