LG updates its line of LG gram and LG gram Pro ultrabooks: Intel Core Ultra, AI and optional OLED screens

The LG gram line is known for its compact laptops with a nice design and balanced features. These are not gaming models, of course, but they are very good work options. And for 2024, the company has already prepared a decent update.

For example, LG gram models come in four sizes ranging from 14 to 17 inches. The ultrabooks range in size from 312×214.3×16.9 mm with a weight of 1.1 kg to 378.8×258.8×18.8 mm and 1.415 kg.

The first two diagonals will offer Full HD resolution and a refresh rate of up to 60 Hz, while the larger variants increase the resolution to WQXGA and optionally offer a faster 144 Hz matrix (31-144 VRR). The maximum brightness, depending on the model, ranges from 320 to 400 cd/m². The 16- and 17-inch models also come with touchscreen options.

A separate difference can be made by the speakers, which are slightly more powerful in the two larger LG grams. Each laptop also has webcams with infrared sensors to recognize the owner’s face. And all models will offer USB-A, the newer Thunderbolt 4, and HDMI ports.

As for the internal components, users will be able to choose Intel Core Ultra 5 or 7, 8 to 32 GB of RAM, and drives with a capacity of 256 GB to 2 TB. In all cases, only Intel Arc video accelerators are available. The two smaller models have 72 Wh batteries, while the larger ones have 77 Wh batteries.

In turn, LG gram Pro series laptops are offered in 16 and 17-inch sizes. The cases of these versions range from 357.7×251.6 mm, with a thickness of 12.8 to 14.6 mm. The weight is also slightly higher – 1.199-1.379 kg.

Here, the screens have a WQXGA resolution for IPS and WQXGA+ for OLED versions. All of them provide a maximum brightness of up to 400 cd/m². Depending on the matrix, the refresh rate will vary between 31-144 or 48-120 Hz.

LG gram Pro also has similar configurations, but can additionally offer discrete NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 graphics with 4 GB of GDDR6. This option will also increase the battery capacity from 77 to 90 Wh.

However, for the Pro version, a smaller storage capacity is specified – up to 1 TB.

A separate version of the LG gram Pro 2-in-1 is available only in a 16-inch version (357.25×253.8×12.4-12.9 mm, 1.399 kg), and will also offer WQXGA for IPS and WQXGA+ for OLED. However, in this case, the graphics can only be Intel Arc, and the battery capacity is 77 Wh.

All LG gram laptops will additionally receive proprietary software LG gram Link, LG Glance by Mirametrix, and LG Smart Assistant. Interestingly, AI will help with cataloging and searching for photos, and the software will help with photo and file sharing, as well as image merging with iOS and Android smartphones.

The company will officially demonstrate the new LG gram at CES 2024.
