TomTom joins forces with Microsoft to create a conversational AI assistant for cars
TomTom has partnered with tech giant Microsoft to create a conversational car assistant based on artificial intelligence, writes Reuters.
The assistant will allow users to “naturally communicate with their cars” and provide voice interaction with infotainment systems, location search, and control systems.
To create the voice assistant, TomTom used various Microsoft services. One of them is Azure OpenAI, which allows companies and developers to use large OpenAI language models.
The AI assistant can be integrated into various automotive infotainment systems and built into the Digital Cockpit platform.
In October, TomTom CFO Taco Titulaire stated that the company sees new opportunities in generative AI and is “investing time, money, and people” in this technology.
