Google is starting to delete inactive accounts. Who will be affected?
Google starts deleting accounts that have not been used for at least two years. The company warned of such intentions back in May 2023. This is reminded by Android Authority.
Google is taking these measures as part of its updated terms of service. In this way, Google seeks to strengthen security measures, as inactive accounts are more vulnerable to hacker attacks.
The tech giant will implement its intentions in stages. First, the company will delete accounts that have not been used since they were created at all.
Accordingly, if a user has not yet performed a basic action, such as sending or reading an email, Google will delete their profile and all related information, including data from Gmail, Drive, Calendar, and other services.
This is strictly about personal accounts. This means that accounts associated with schools and businesses will not be affected. Also, these changes will not yet affect accounts with YouTube videos.
