AppFlowy, a startup developing an open-source alternative to Notion, has raised $6.4 million from well-known sponsors, including the founders of YouTube, GitHub, Automattic, and others. This was reported by TechCrunch.
The service is available on Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms, and gives users the ability to manage projects, take notes, track the status of individual tasks, and many other useful features.
Unlike Notion, AppFlowy gives users full control over their workspace with the option of self-hosting, which solves certain security and scalability issues.
In addition, since this service is based on open source software, it allows companies to better customize it for specific needs and contribute to further development by adding new features.
Now, having raised $6.4 million, the company will be able to provide users with the ability to store the necessary or all of their data in the cloud using solutions such as Amazon EC2 and Azure.
In the future, the company plans to use cloud services for monetization, but now all the functionality of AppFlowy is available to users for free.
