Grok chatbot: Elon Musk’s company launches a sarcasm-loving alternative to ChatGPT

Elon Musk’s xAI company is launching its own version of ChatGPT. The artificial intelligence-based chatbot is called Grok and will be available to a limited group of users in the US for beta testing. This is stated in the message of the company.

“Grok is designed to answer questions with a bit of wit and has a rebellious streak, so please don’t use it if you hate humor!” xAI said in a statement.

One of the features of Grok is that it has access to real-time information through the X platform. At the same time, it is able to answer “burning questions” that are not perceived by most other artificial intelligence systems.

“Grok is still a very early beta product – the best we could do with 2 months of training – so expect it to improve rapidly with each passing week with your help,” noted in xAI.

The company wants Grok to become a powerful research assistant, helping people quickly access the information they need, process data, and come up with new ideas. Meanwhile, they warn that the model may still generate false or contradictory information. The company also promises that the model will have “senses”.

“Currently, Grok doesn’t have other senses, such as vision and audio. To better assist users, we will equip Grok with these different senses that can enable broader applications, including real-time interactions and assistance,” reported in xAI.

Elon Musk also commented on the launch of Grok. According to him, after the beta testing, all Premium+ subscribers of the $16 per month platform X plan will have access to it. In addition, he confirmed that Grok “loves sarcasm” and his answers will contain a little humor.
