The long-suffering Telltale Games, which cannot get rid of its strange love for multiplayer games, is laying off employees again. This was reported by IGN with reference to one of the studio’s former employees.

The dismissal was announced on Twitter by the former artist of the studio, Yona Huang.

“This is a sore subject, but I feel it necessary to add to the gaming layoff news: Telltale laid most of us off early September. Status of TWAU2, I can’t say (NDA).

Now, I focus on what matters to me—my own game, and the following words:

Games industry, we must UNIONIZE.” the fired developer wrote.

The dismissal was confirmed by IGN and Telltale Games.

“Due to current market conditions, we regrettably had to let some of our Telltale team go recently. We did not take this action lightly, and our commitment to storytelling and finding new ways to do so remains the same. We are grateful to everyone for their dedication along this journey, and we are working to support everyone impacted. All projects currently in development are still in production, and we have no further updates at this time,” Telltale Games said in a comment.

Well, it looks likeThe Expanse: A Telltale Series, which was developed by Deck Nine and published by Telltale Games, did not live up to the company’s expectations. What’s much sadder is that the fate of The Wolf Among Us 2 hangs in the balance again.

The game, which has many fans and is considered the best of Telltale Games, was supposed to be released as the second season of The Wolf Among Us back in 2018, but due to financial problems and the closure of the studio, it was canceled. The project was mentioned again after the revival of Telltale Games under the leadership of LCG Entertainment in 2019. The Wolf Among Us 2 was announced during The Game Awards 2019, but then development stalled. Initially, development was carried out on the Unreal Engine 4 engine, and the release was scheduled for 2023. Then the game moved to Unreal Engine 5, and the release date was pushed back to 2024.

What will happen to the long-suffering The Wolf Among Us 2 now is still unknown. But this is really the last hope of Telltale Games. If this game doesn’t work out, the studio will most likely be closed for good.
