Baldur’s Gate 3 has beaten The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, receiving a higher score based on reviews on Metacritic
Baldur’s Gate 3 has overtaken The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to secure its position as the game with the most positive reviews in 2023.
Although many expected Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to be the undisputed leader this year, Baldur’s Gate 3 managed to pull ahead on Metacritic. The game received an impressive overall score of 97/100 from critics, just one point ahead of Zelda (96/100).
However, it’s worth noting that Metacritic scores can fluctuate, especially shortly after a game’s release when new reviews are still being added. While most Zelda reviews are likely accounted for, Baldur’s Gate 3 currently has only 26 reviews from professional critics on Metacritic, suggesting that its score is still subject to change.
However, Larian Studios, the developer of Baldur’s Gate 3, has more to celebrate. Their game has not only received critical acclaim, but also the highest user ratings. Moreover, for two weekends in a row, Baldur’s Gate was the second most downloaded game on Steam, ahead of such popular games as Dota 2 and PUBG: Battlegrounds. Only CS:GO had more simultaneous players during this period.
