Wix announced an AI-powered tool that builds a website based on prompts

Wix has announced a new AI Site Generator tool that allows users to generate a guided website with text, images, event sections, booking options and more. This is written by TechCrunch.

The tool creates a site using a combination of its own and third-party artificial intelligence systems. In a chatbot-like interface, the AI Site Generator asks a series of questions about the essence of the site and business, trying to turn them into a customized web template. ChatGPT generates the text for the site, while Wix’s AI creates the site design and images.

The company says its goal was to provide customers with “real value” in website creation and business development.

“The AI Site Generator leverages our domain expertise and near-decade of experience with AI to tune the models to generate high-quality content, tailor-made design and layouts,” Avishai Abrahami, Wix’s co-founder and CEO said. “We’ve conducted many tests and have had many in-depth conversations with users to be confident that we are delivering real value. That’s why we chose to do it now.”

He added that he sees the technology as a real way to streamline and simplify the process of building back-end business functionality, infrastructure, payment options and more for clients’ websites.

According to Abrahami, small businesses in particular face challenges when launching and maintaining websites. This potentially results in lost income opportunities.

The Top Design Firms 2022 survey found that nearly 27% of small businesses still don’t have a website and that low traffic, followed by adding “advanced” features and cost, are the top challenges they face when building a website.
