Elon Musk created the xAI company, which should “understand the true nature of the universe”

Elon Musk, who has hinted for months that he wants to create an alternative to ChatGPT, has announced the creation of a company he calls xAI. Its mission is to “understand the true nature of the universe,” writes Bloomberg.

On the website xAI stated that its team will be headed by the billionaire himself. In addition, it will be staffed by executives who worked at various companies, including DeepMind, Microsoft Corp. and Tesla Inc, as well as at academic institutions such as the University of Toronto.

Although Elon Musk is often critical of San Francisco, the xAI website reports that the company is “actively recruiting experienced engineers and researchers” to work “in the Bay Area.” Until now, most AI development has been concentrated in Silicon Valley.

Elon Musk participated in the creation of OpenAI. But he has been a frequent and public critic of the company since leaving the board in 2018. Microsoft has invested about $13 billion in OpenAI.

Despite his work in the field of artificial intelligence, Elon Musk expressed deep reservations about this technology. The billionaire was among a group of researchers and tech industry leaders who in March called on developers to stop training powerful AI models.

Now 52-year-old Elon Musk manages six companies: Tesla, SpaceX, Twitter, Neuralink, Boring Co. and now xAI.
