Netflix released the first trailer for the 3 Body Problem show

Netflix presented the first trailer for the upcoming screen adaptation of the famous science fiction book 3 Body Problem.

The teaser trailer, which was one of the highlights of the Netflix Tudum event, offers a sneak peek at the epic sci-fi series, which is set to begin airing in January 2024.

The adaptation was first announced in 2020, with Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson is also part of the production team.

The series is based on the Liu Cixin’s trilogy Remembrance of Earth’s Past, the first book of which is The Three-Body Problem. The title of the novel refers the reader to the three-body problem, one of the analytically unsolvable problems of celestial mechanics. Aliens living in a star system with three stars are in danger of death. A signal sent into space from Cultural Revolution-era China prompts them to equip an invasion fleet to take over Earth.

The series will consist of eight one-hour episodes. The premiere is six months away, so fans have plenty of time to delve into the books it’s based on.
