Bill Gates predicts the emergence of a digital agent that will change people’s behavior

The next leading company in the field of artificial intelligence will most likely create a personal digital agent that can perform certain tasks for humans. This opinion was expressed by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates during the Goldman Sachs and SV Angel event in San Francisco, writes CNBC.

In his opinion, the technology will be so deep that it will be able to fundamentally change the behavior of users.

“Whoever wins the personal agent, that’s the big thing, because you will never go to a search site again, you will never go to a productivity site, you’ll never go to Amazon again,” he said.

Bill Gates assumed that this yet-to-be-developed AI assistant would be able to understand human needs and habits. At the same time, the chances that the future winner in the field of AI will be either a startup or a technological giant are the same.

“I’d be disappointed if Microsoft didn’t come in there,” Gates said. “But I’m impressed with a couple of startups, including Inflection (Inflection.AI – ed.)”.

The co-founder of Microsoft is convinced that it will be some time before the powerful digital agent of the future is ready for use. Until then, companies will implement so-called generative AI technologies, similar to ChatGPT, into their products.

Bill Gates also noted that AI will accelerate innovation in space and lead to more advanced drug development. In his opinion, humanity is approaching the creation of effective drugs for the treatment of diseases such as Alzheimer’s, and tests of new drugs on humans may take place in 10 years.

Earlier it was reported that artificial intelligence is able to change users’ beliefs without their knowledge. One of the experiments in this direction concerned the writing of essays using artificial intelligence. During the task, the AI could push the participants to one point of view or another, depending on the bias of the algorithm.
