The nearest presentation of new products from Apple will take place at WWDC 2023 on June 5. And although computers are expected, most likely they will have chips of the M2 generation. But this does not mean that the company is not working on the next models of its own processors. Yes, M3 has already made itself known, but so far in the statistics of developers.

According to the information of Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, obtained from one of the developers of software for Mac, Apple is already testing a new MacBook Pro based on the M3 processor. Most likely, we are talking about the version of the chip with the Pro index, which are traditionally installed in laptops of this class.

As for the update, the M3 processors will already be manufactured according to the 3-nanometer process. If we assume that the tested model was the base one, then the transition from the M2 Pro to the M3 Pro will resemble the previous upgrade, because the test version of the chip has 12 cores, among which there are 6 performance cores and six efficient ones. Also, the test MBP has 18-core graphics and 36 GB of RAM (which is 4 more than its predecessors). We saw a similar increase in the number of cores with the appearance of the M2 Pro.

Mr. Gurman says that the company is already working on the new iMac, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air with such processors. He expects to see these models as soon as this year.
