Proton Pass is a new secure password manager from the developers of Proton Mail

The Swiss developer Proton AG, known primarily for the email client Proton Mail, has announced about the release of a new product — the Proton Pass password manager.

Proton Pass is currently in beta status and is only available to Lifetime and Visionary members of the Proton ecosystem. The new password manager offers end-to-end encryption and the same degree of protection not only for passwords, but also for other personal data: usernames, notes, web addresses, and more.

The developer assures that all cryptographic operations, including key generation and data encryption, are performed locally, on the user’s device, without the possibility of access to them by the developer.

Proton plans to open source the new password manager once it is available to the general public. Proton Pass is currently available on Android, iPhone/iPad, and desktop as Chrome and Brave extensions; a Firefox extension is promised soon.
