Canada will hand over the confiscated An-124-100 aircraft of the Russian airline Volga-Dnepr to Ukraine
Ukraine will receive the An-124-100 Ruslan transport aircraft of the Russian airline Volga-Dnepr, which was arrested in Canada. This was reported by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal summing up his visit to the USA and Canada.
“A new package of sanctions against Russia from Canada. In particular, against the Volga-Dnepr company. We are preparing to confiscate the AN-124 aircraft and other assets of the aggressor in Canada and transfer them to Ukraine,” wrote Shmyhal.
Arrest on 12 An-124-100 Ruslan transport aircraft of the Russian airline Volga-Dnepr at the request of the State Enterprise Antonov was imposed back in April 2022 According to the decisions of local authorities, three An-124-100 Ruslan aircraft were forbidden to depart from Germany, one from Canada. We are talking about the last An-124.
The plane should be handed over to the Ukrainian Asset Recovery and Management Agency.
A total of 12 An-124-100 Ruslan and 5 Il-76 aircraft were at the disposal of the Volga-Dnepr airline. So we hope that the An-124 from Canada is only the first of the Russian aircraft confiscated for the benefit of Ukraine.
