Starlink offers to try the global roaming service for $200/month
The SpaceX company e-mails offers to those who wish to try the global roaming service in countries where there is no full support for Starlink work yet. At the same time, it warns that sometimes there may be no connection at all.
“Global Roaming makes use of Starlink’s inter-satellite links (aka space lasers) to provide connectivity around the globe. As this is a new technology, you can expect the Starlink’s typical high speed, low-latency service intermixed with brief periods of poor connectivity, or none at al. However, this will improve dramatically over time,” the letter reads.
At the same time, the user will still have to purchase the terminal itself for $599 and pay $200 monthly for the provision of services. This is something similar to the Portability function, which allows you to move the “dish” within the country and continue to use the connection, but in this case should ensure work “from almost anywhere in the world.”
It is also worth noting that the company leaves it up to the buyer to ensure that the use of Starlink complies with local laws, and in some countries such as Pakistan, India or Cambodia, the company is still awaiting approval from regulatory authorities.
