Google Photos received an update for Memories and the collage editor
When Google Photos launched Memories three years ago, it was the beginning of an evolution from an app where you store photos and videos to a place where you can hold and remember important moments. Since then, the feature has become one of the most loved in Photos, with more than 3.5 billion Memories viewed by users every month, reports Google blog.
To make it easier to browse and share important moments, Google is rolling out the biggest update to Memories since its launch and a new collage editor.
Thanks to the update, users will see more videos, including the best parts of long videos that Google Photos will automatically select and crop. Even the photos will become more dynamic, and to tie it all together, some memories will start adding instrumental music next month. There is also an option to hide photos of certain people or time periods from being shown in memories.
Cinematic Photos have quickly become one of the most-reserved visual effects since their launch in 2020. Full Cinematic Memories will soon be available to users, turning a few photos into an end-to-end cinematic experience. They will also have music, making the photos somewhat film-like.
Google is additionally rolling out a new Styles feature where graphic images will automatically be added to Memories to make them stand out. There will be several designs at launch, including limited-time styles from popular artists Chantelle Martin and Lisa Congdon, created specifically for Google Photos.
Memories in Google Photos are only visible to users, but there are times when they are shared with family and friends. This was the number one requested feature. So Google launched the ability to share all your Memories with friends and family on Android so they can view them directly from Google Photos on any device. Coming soon to iOS and Web.
