This year, 95% of school graduates will be enrolled in higher education institutions of Ukraine

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine expects that 95% of school graduates will be enrolled in higher education institutions this year. As reported by Ukrinform, Minister of Education and Science Serhiy Shkarlet said about this on the air of the telethon.

“According to the results of the main and additional sessions, 209,000 graduates have already passed the NMT and entered higher education institutions. 209 thousand out of 223 thousand 11th grade graduates. For today, we still count on 6 thousand for the special session, which will be held from September 12 to 16. And I am sure that we will enroll almost 95% of our graduates in institutions of higher education,” said Shkarlet.

The National Multi-Subject Test (NMT), which replaced the traditional external examination this year due to hostilities, was accompanied by a scandal when parents of students on social networks began to pay attention to the fact that the questions from the tests of different sessions are repeated, and at the end of the main session on the Internet answers to all possible questions were already available. This, most likely, explains the abnormally high results of passing the test.

95% of school graduates who have the right to enter universities is completely abnormal. Overall global level of people with higher education is only 38%. Even in such developed countries as Canada, Israel, and Japan, the number of university graduates is 54, 49, and 48 percent, respectively. At the same time, this includes graduates of communal colleges, nursing schools, and distance learning centers.

According to the data of the first and last census of Ukraine in 2001, only 13.6% of the population had higher education in the country at that time.
