Mark Zuckerberg promised better graphics in the metaverse in response to memes

The first announcement of Horizon Worlds disappointed internet users, and Mark Zuckerberg is in a hurry to fix it. On August 15, he announced the launch of the project in France and Spain, by posting a screenshot of his digital avatar. A virtual Zuckerberg stands in front of the Eiffel Tower and a building that vaguely resembles the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

The graphics in the screenshot were quite primitive, so the Internet answered this with memes.

For example, one of the Twitter users compared it with game Play with the Teletubbies for PlayStation 1.

Now Zuckerberg wants to convince users that the graphics in the metaverse will be much better. On August 19, he posted a much more realistic version of his own digital avatar and an ancient platform surrounded by columns.

“Major updates to Horizon and avatar graphics coming soon. I’ll share more at Connect. Also, I know the photo I posted earlier this week was pretty basic — it was taken very quickly to celebrate a launch. The graphics in Horizon are capable of much more — even on headsets – and Horizon is improving very quickly,” wrote Meta CEO.

Meta is not the only one working on the active development of the metauniverse. NVIDIA offers filling virtual space with chatbot avatars, and Microsoft and Epic Games together with Zuckerberg’s company are developing standards for the metaverse.
