The next OnePlus flagship should be presented in a week. One of the convenient features of the manufacturer’s smartphones is a physical switch for notification modes, almost like on an iPhone. Apart from Apple and OnePlus, other manufacturers do not practice this, although this switch is often noted as very useful and convenient.

Before the presentation, the company managed to show the appearance of the new flagship model — OnePlus 10T. The smartphone looks almost like the OnePlus 10 Pro, but the renders do not show the old switch. In a conversation with TheVerge, the chief designer of OnePlus Hope Liu explained why it was necessary to get rid of the switch.

The reason for this decision was the lack of free space inside the device, which is needed to implement other features of the new smartphone. And this is, in particular, a larger battery, support for even more powerful charging and improved communication.

“Although the alert slider looks like a very small component, it actually has a relatively large impact on the device’s motherboard footprint, occupying 30mm². By keeping the warning slider would require us to fold the device’s motherboard, which would make the device thicker,” says Liu.

So, according to rumors, the smartphone should support 150-watt charging, which is almost twice as much as the OnePlus 10 Pro. This requires additional elements (“charging pumps” as Mr. Liu called them). Also, the smartphone will use more antennas — 15, and they require additional space. This number of antennas should improve the quality of communication when the smartphone is placed horizontally in the hands. This is important during, for example, games.

On the new smartphone, the Hasselblad branding, which was on several previous devices, is not visible. Refusal of cooperation was a forced step to maintain a more affordable price of the gadget (it is currently unknown what exact amount is in question). Although it is unlikely to become a big problem and significantly affect the quality of the photo.

The OnePlus 10T will receive the main sensor from Sony — a 50-megapixel IMX766. The designer also confirmed the 6.7-inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor and two body colors (matte black and glossy green).

The presentation of the smartphone should take place on August 3 at 17:00 Kyiv time (10AM ET).
