There are approximately 150,000 Starlink satellite Internet users in Ukraine

On February 26, in response to a request from the Ukrainian government, Elon Musk’s SpaceX sent thousands of Starlink terminals to Ukraine. During the month, the number of Ukrainian downloads of Starlink, which is used to connect computers and phones to terminals, rose from zero to 215,000 (representing 58% of the total downloads in the world), according to The Economist.

According to Apptopia, a data research company, Starlink has approximately 150,000 active daily users in Ukraine. Satellite Internet is very helpful in military communication. The Daily Telegraph writes that Ukrainian forces use Starlink to gather intelligence and track targets for drone strikes.

In addition, the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko said that hospitals avoid connection disruptions during power outages using the Starlink signal. However, the connection is weakest in eastern Ukraine, the new center of the Russian attack. There, orbital satellites are farther from their ground stations. On April 21, SpaceX launched another 53 satellites into orbit. Better coverage would only make Starlink more useful.

The large number of Starlink users makes Ukraine one of the largest markets for SpaceX, so it is not surprising that the company has already registered a representative office in the country for its satellite Internet.
