The CD Projekt Red has announced that The Witcher 3 update for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series Console 5 and Xbox Series X | S is postponed for an uncertain period of time.
Its development was announced in September 2020 – the company promised to improve graphics, in particular, add tracing rays, accelerate downloads and include all additional content. The update had to be free of charge for all the owners of the original game, got postponed several times and according to the latest news was planned for the second quarter of this year.
The Russian Saber Interactive studio was engaged in the development (the one which ported the game to the Nintendo Switch), and the CD Projekt Red decided to refuse its services. The in-house studio of the company is going to finish work, and it is currently evaluating the situation, so it can not give any promises regarding the release date.
We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice. 1/2
