EU countries introduce affordable or free roaming options for Ukrainian refugees

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, millions of Ukrainians have been forced to leave their homes and move abroad. As of today, it is more than 4 million citizens. Of course, in this situation, everyone needs to stay connected and have access to the Internet.

Today, Ukrainian mobile operators and 24 EU operators signed a joint agreement on providing affordable or free roaming for Ukrainian citizens. Operators will either reduce tariffs or not charge for it at all. The full list of operators can be found at this link.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine reported this as follows:

The EU introduces affordable and free roaming for Ukrainian refugees.

As part of the European Virtual Event, 24 EU mobile operators and 3 Ukrainian mobile operators have just signed a joint statement on coordinating efforts to ensure affordable and free roaming during EU-Ukraine international calls.

This is an important digital European integration step for Ukraine. I would like to single out the efforts of the European Commission and the European Parliament to unite all European operators, as well as the National Commission for the State Regulation of Communications and Informatization and the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine.
